Housing Affordability

homebuilding.png

The "fix" for housing affordability will require bold decision making, creative thinking and deep public-private partnerships.

  • Gap financing for developers to continue to make investments in housing

  • Strong relationships with federal and state policy makers (HUD)

  • Connect residents with Raleigh Housing Authority programs

  • Drive community awareness and adoption of existing home rehabilitation and preservation initiatives

  • Continued engagement with leading NGO's and non-profits like DHIC, CASA, and Habitat for Humanity Wake County

  • Support resident's opinions and thoughts on forthcoming bond packages

  • Down-payment assistance programs can remove the barrier to entry to home ownership

  • Reduce and remove government operational ineffectiveness related to seeking housing assistance (long call times, wait-list, etc)

  • Develop a one-stop shop resident help-desk related to housing support with ticketing, tracking and clear communication of progress

Balancing housing supply with growing demand is essential for improving affordability, driving economic growth, and supporting workforce mobility.
